Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

PRP uses the healing properties of your blood platelets to rejuvenate skin and promote hair growth.

Skin Rejuvenation > Platelet-Rich Plasma

What is PRP therapy?

Blood is composed of liquid known as plasma and solid components like red and white cells and platelets. During PRP therapy, a small amount of blood is extracted and spun in a centrifuge creating a concentrated number of platelets with a small amount of plasma. This platelet-rich plasma is then carefully delivered into the skin or scalp.

Collagen Production

Concentrated growth factors help maintain skin’s elasticity.

Promotes Tissue Repair

Encourages skin tissue repair by instructing epidermal stem cells.

Anti-Aging Properties

PRP can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Hair and Scalp Stimulation

Delivering essential nutrients for hair growth to follicles and scalp.

Why PRP Therapy

How does Platelet-Rich Plasma help our skin?

Platelets are a rich source of growth factors that help to restore wounds and heal tissue. Platelet-Rich Plasma is special in that it contains a much higher concentration of plasma (usually five times more than standard blood).

Platelet-Rich Plasma’s ability to stimulate cell turnover makes it favourable for treating the under eye region (for dark circles).

With age, collagen and elastin production slows. PRP can help reduce wrinkles and fine lines near cheeks, nasolabial folds and neck.

By increasing the amount of available bioactive proteins (growth factors) Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy can improve scars.

PRP benefits for Hair

PRP for Hair Growth

Similarly to skin, platelet-rich plasma can help promote longer and thicker hair growth naturally by delivering larger quantities of growth factors directly in areas of thinning. PRP is delivered across the scalp, typically, with a focus on the temporal and crown areas.

Frequently Asked Questions

PRP, short for Platelet-Rich Plasma, is made from a small amount of a patient’s blood. As part of the treatment, blood is extracted and processed to concentrate platelets into a thin layer, which contains essential growth factors for healing.

PRP treatments can provide optimal healing support for 3-4 months. It is recommended that clients first undergo three consecutive treatments, each one month apart, before then undergoing maintenance treatments once every few months.

As PRP is using your own blood it is considered safe with a low risk of adverse side effects. PRP is well established and its healing abilities are used for a range of health concerns.

After undergoing PRP therapy, it’s best to avoid any strenuous activities and minimise sun exposure for at least 24-48 hours.

PRP is called liquid gold for a reason. Its potent healing power can be used to treat a range of skin concerns like fine lines and wrinkles, discolouration and uneven skin texture.

Imagine taking a large amount of nutrients and delivering it right to your scalp. That’s possible with PRP. By injecting platelet rich plasma directly into the scalp, there can be an improved blood supply for hair follicles, thus, encouraging thicker hair.
